Overview

TFE managed the Y-12 National Security Complex Site-Wide Waste Transportation and Haul Road Maintenance Project. TFE's safely and efficiently transported multiple waste profiles from the URS | CH2M Oak Ridge LLC (UCOR) Accelerated Cleanup Project sites, including the Y-12 National Security Complex, East Tennessee Technology Park (ETTP), and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). The waste was delivered to the Oak Ridge Reservation (ORR) Sanitary Landfill, the Environmental Management Waste Management Facility (EMWMF). To transport the waste, TFE operated approximately 40 conveyance units on-site, including oversized tri axle dump trucks, flatbeds, Removable Gooseneck (RGN) lowboys, cargo vans, pup trailers, tractors, water trucks, and roll-off trucks.

TFE also managed and maintained the eight mile haul road between ETTP and EMWMF built by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) specifically for this transportation scope of work. The haul road was constructed by DOE and was managed by TFE specifically for this project to mitigate risks and hazards associated with this scope of work by eliminating interaction with normal public traffic. Safety programs and incentives emphasize personal responsibility of workers for following all traffic rules, Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations, and U.S. Department of Transportation regulations. With a strong project team, the efficient use of resources, and the ability to schedule equipment and personnel, TFE playeds a significant role in the success of our UCOR client and other contractors and subcontractors across the ORR.

When it comes to transportation efforts, I will pick the TFE team any day of the week and twice on Saturday and Sunday. It’s great to have team members you can count on.
